Here are some recent pictures from the past two weeks:
I love this picture of poppies from my back garden. They've already "popped" and have shed their crepe-paper petals, but always add a burst of color to the garden. See you next year, poppies!
Mom was thrilled when R visited her!
I made and sent another baby quilt to my cousin's newest grand baby in Texas!
My oldest racks up the miles on his bike.
Starting to garden like my Dad- if there's a bit of space around the base of a tree...use it! (Don't look at the weeds!)
My three about to go on a camping adventure...
...down to the river!
Yellow flags in bloom!
I'm hoping this large river resident is an otter! His entrance to his (or her) home is shown below:
The past few weeks have been busy! The garden is a happening place! When I filled planters from our compost pile last Friday night, heard an unusual bird amid the racket of evening birdsong, and discovered a pair of small screech owls calling to one another from nearby trees. It was nearly dusk, and I wanted to savor the moment so ran and got my family instead of trying to capture the sighting with a camera.
Feeding incoming and outgoing family occupies a lot of time, as well as keeping tabs on aging parents. We've renewed friendships when Montana pals dropped by (has it really been 20 years since they moved?), visited Farmers' markets with D and B, attended an art show with a college classmate that featured work by a former art professor (D was in his class -gulp- 30 years ago?!), and attended the annual Memorial Day parade and service honoring local war dead. Our daughter came home for about a week and just returned downstate for awhile. Our youngest has been going to baseball practices, games, a first time NYSMA solo, a birthday party and plain old hanging out at a friend's house- Summer's not even officially here, but Summer activities have been in full swing and we're trying to keep up!

Oh, those poppies are beautiful. I tried planting some last year but they didn't come back. I think the family of bunnies living round the house might have had something to do with that. lol.
Hope July has started out as beautiful as June. Such nice photos!
I was pleased to see your comment on my blog yesterday as I haven't seen you post for a while. I do hope things are ok with you and your family and your Mom. Our summer has been very hot and hynid. I seem to be a seasonal complainer. winter- too cold, too long, too snowy. summer too hot, spring too wet... I love fall, but don't want it too appear too soon.
All the best, Ann
